Riada FC was formed in the early 1980s formerly known as Riada Rangers the club played in the Coleraine Premier division 2. The club got their name from being based out of the Riada Inn pub in Ballymoney. Some of Ballymoneys finest has turned out for the club over the years names that include Willie McConaghie, Davy Feeney, Jock King, Aaron Kane, Mervyn McIntyre and lots more. After taking over as manager in 2001 Mervyn McGrath took the club to the league title in the 2003/04 season notching up an incredible run of winning 14 games out of 16. Taking the big step of promotion and their name being changed to Riada fc, WE established ourselves in the premier division adequately and created an upset or two in our first season. After resigning his post McGrath bid a fond farewell to the club, The committee decided on Mervyn McIntyre to take the club forward as a player manager but he found it hard to play and manage at the same time so the boots were hung up and the club were put first. The club was playing well and it attracted a lot attention to their results so much so that Dervock Utd approached Mcintyre to manage them in the Ballymena League, Richard Mooney and Peter Cairns took over at the helm and signed a few good players and Riada played some great football so much so that teams really sat up and took notice of who we were. After a short spell in charge the management changed again with Mcintyre coming back to where his heart was and again he started to build his own team with the aid of his assistant Peter Kelly. The aim for the future is to win the Coleraine Premier League and then move up to the Ballymena Intermediate League so come on and support your local team RIADA FC PRIDE OF THE TOON.
